This is a beginner’s level course aimed at those wishing to develop an interest in wine or pursue a career in wine.
The Level 1 Award in Wines is a one day course comprising 6 guided learning hours, and an examination. In the course you will learn:
- The main types and styles of wine
- Characteristics of common wine grapes
- Correct storage and service of wines
- Food and wine pairing
- The WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine (SAT)
The examination consists of 30 multiple choice questions.
The cost of this course is £150 and includes use of glassware, study materials, examination costs, and tasting wines.
Under 18s can complete this qualification, but will not be allowed to taste wines. However, this is not a barrier to successfully completing the qualification.
